Thanksgiving 2013

What a day!

Thanks to The Pioneer Woman, we had a homemade and successful (according to my hubby's terms) thanksgiving. We stayed in our jammies, watched the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade, ate cinnamon rolls and spent time around the fire place.

That being said, mom and I worked from 7:30am this morning till 2pm when the turkey was cut and we all sat down to eat.

The menu included:
  • 15 pound turkey, brined and cooked
  • mash potatoes
  • green bean casserole
  • apple, sausage and cornbread dressing
  • gravy
  • buns
  • deviled eggs (Bridger devoured them along with his father and uncle)
  • homemade mac and cheese
  • asparagus roll ups
  • ........and we can't forget the pumpkin pie too!

Kallan did a great job at her first thanksgiving, she had a little taste of mash potatoes and seemed to enjoy them. It's crazy how quickly the newborn stage passes by. She is such a cutie and I can't seem to say it enough, but I am so proud of how Bridger is acting around her. Very cautious and extra careful to make sure he gives her "loves" and soft voices. Loud ones scare her....not that we know this!

We finished up dinner/lunch and headed down to the lake for some good ole' family pictures! It's not often we are all together. As Uncle D.D. would say, "I have no idea how you guys do this, I'm exhausted and the these babies never stop." Life is definitely different with kids but we wouldn't trade it for the world.

Bridger had a great second Thanksgiving and was busy all day long playing basketball. I swear that boy can't seem to get enough. If he isn't playing basketball he is watching football with the boys, shouting out at the tv. Gaga did lots of bubbles and books in between making Thanksgiving meal. And when I wasn't busy we were singing and dancing to the new holiday tunes that we had one. Sure love that boy, even if he is a bit of a mama's boy!

Daddy called Grandma and Grandpa Parsons too, they had Uncle Bill, Aunt Becky and cousins Audrey and Natalie over. We sure missed all of them, but as Bridger told me when he got off the phone, he talked to Natlie, Audy, Biiiil, and gma gpa. And after that we called Great Grandma Mackey. She had just got back from Great Aunt Jane's with Great Uncle Jim and Great Cousins Peggy, Mike, Dove, Keefer, McKenzie and Great Great Great cousin Jordyn. Everyone sounded great and all had a good thanksgiving too.

We love all of our friends and family and are so thankful for each and everyone that has a special place in our life.

Happy Thanksgiving.

The turkey is in the brine and Auntie KK and Cousin Kallan arrived

We have been busy prepping for the big Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow. Between naps all day long from one family member to the next, we managed to make the brine, cool the brine, place the turkey in the brine and finally seal it so that it can soak over night.

In the mean time I made my stuffed shells for dinner tonight and we all had a chance to catch up and have a sit down meal without running after babies the whole time. Both babies were great!

Bridger is doing a great job with Kallan and seems interested, yet is very cautious as to not scare her and be too aggressive. Kallan is working on her army crawl and she sure has a petite little cry compared to our Bridge man. At times I can't even hear her when she is waking up in the crib. Such a sweet little girl.

Happy early Thanksgiving! We are blessed and have a lot to be thankful for, I hope that you all have a great one too.

xoxo,
The Parsons

Uncle D.D is here

Bridger is one excited boy. His Uncle D.D. is here and he couldn't be happier. They are like two peas and a pod. Best Friends who reunite and can't get enough of each other.

We hung around the house last night, ended up Primary Care for me (thought I had strep, but thankfully this did a quick test and I don't). What's a family holiday without a lot of extra unplanned events.

Well we just got word that Auntie K.K and baby Kallan's plan is delayed so we will see if they end up making it to Boise tonight. O the joys of flying!

The sounds of waking up and listening to Bridger ask for D.D in bed and then listening to them laugh upstairs makes my heart full and happy. It sure is nice to have my family out here.

Today was spent enjoying Idaho's Wine Country! Off to Sawtooth we went, unfortunately they were closed on Monday's and Tuesday's for winter hours so off to St. Chapelle, which never disappoints. Between wine tasting and chatting up old times with everyone we enjoyed ourselves. Dinner didn't disappoint either, Brick 29 was fantastic and a must for guest.

Bridger was exhausted and went down fast tonight. Such a tired little boy, the big boys are still up chatting in the living room and I am sitting here next to the fire working on some craft projects for Christmas. Vacation break is so nice!

Tomorrow is prep day and a day full of sister/cousin love!
(Just got word they made their connection!) Yay!!!!

Enjoy!

Star bright star light

We spent the evening gazing at the beautiful lights a glow, warm coffee drinks in hand and a sweet baby boy oooing and ahhing at all the lights.

I can't deny how cold it was, I still feel like my fingers are frozen, what happen to fall? I think that it came and went and old man winter is here.

Bridger gave Grandma a run for her money today. Going to every awesome structure hand in hand looking at each thing and even going through the rope when it clearly says "DO NOT ENTER." Such a little dare devil!

We wrapped up our Thanksgiving shopping for dinner, boy was that a task. I am thankful that Grandma Rosie does it every year because this was quite a daunting task and takes alot of planning in order to tackle Winco on the weekend.

Uncle D.D. gets into town tomorrow afternoon. We are excited! I can't believe how fast the days are going, of course Bridger is slightly confused with his schedule, however he does a pretty good job although he does have his moments.

To top off the night Bridger shared his ice cream with Gaga just like any Parsons boy does with his guest.

Here is the beautiful sunset from this evening down at the lake.
Enjoy and have a great week!

Gaga is here!

Grandma Julie got to town on Thursday, her flight was delayed which meant that I was able to go with the boys to pick her up at the airport.

We have been busy since she landed. A long night of chatting to catch up on all things mother and daughters do.

Pause ... Bridger just threw up in our bed. Ugh! Between him and daddy I'm not sure who feels worse.

Okay back to Gaga, Bridger can't say Grandma so Gaga it is. Is there really anything better then having your mom in town and a extra set of hands? There have been lots of train building, basketball games, puzzles, books galore and of course so much love. I can't leave out a little shopping too.

Gaga and I spent the afternoon at Starbucks meal planning for the week and of course Thanksgiving. Pioneer Woman is our go to cookbook of course and between world market, kohls ad wince we manage to check everything off our list. Thanks goodness we don't have to ess with the crowds!

We tried Flying M coffee house close to where we live, such a fun time! Bridger feel in love with a cue little stuffed animal, I might have to go back ad get it to put under the Christmas tree. He has ever really taken much interest in stuffed animals, but this one was his buddy. He is slightly weird looking but so unique.

Not sure what tomorrow will bring but I do know we all better get well and stay well, no one else had better get sick :) We sure love that Gaga is in town.

The wheels on the bus....

We are busy around here.

My family starts flying into town on Thursday. We are thrilled, can't wait, long overdue and a much needed break.

Of course I haven't let myself get there yet since I still have parent teacher conferences both Wednesday night an all day Thursday 8am-8pm. Ugh! But that means one thing this year. We have a full week off for Thanksgiving and it will be party time!!! Just kidding, I mean maybe sleep in time since Grandma will be here :) teehee!

Our boy is down for the count. I knew he was getting something on Saturday when he woke up at 3am extremely hot and started to get the shivers. Poor boy. So I called the on call nurse when through a list of things around 8am and was told to let it run its course and if it gets worse come in. Sunday was better he seemed much better but not at 100% no fever but still a little sloughish. Daddy thought that he was fine this morning when I was getting ready and he was excited to see Ms. Rhea so off to school we went, no fever and one happy boy. Then.................. the school phone rang........................ right at 3:30, full blown screaming, 102 temp and a sad sad boy pulling hard on his ears. Off I went running out the school doors, yelling behind me that I probably won't be at school tomorrow and to get me a sub. I pick him up at daycare rushed him over to PrimaryCare and sure enough...... second degree ear infection, fever and one sad boy. So no school for this mama tomorrow and one boy who is fast asleep since 6pm tonight.

Just a few things to quickly jot down before I forget. We had snow this weekend in the foothills and some parts of Boise. Us though, no snow just rain and one gorgeous view! Also last night was a amazing full moon! So bright and beautiful.

Bridger's basketball hoop came and between being sick we are busy chasing after him and the ball all the time. Grandpa came over on Saturday to duck hunt and watch Bridger play basketball, he will tell that Bridge can pass the ball and even make the baskets! So cute.

Bridger is speaking in sentences and today he told me that Ms. Rhea read a book to him. I am pretty excited watching his vocabulary grow. He pointed to my shirt on Saturday and I had VW van on it, he said, "circle, circle, circle." The van's headlights are circles alone with the wheels on the van. So smart.

Between school, work and life we don't seem to have time for much more. Looking forward to a much need long break and special time with my family! Have a great week.
