Topeka

We woke up early this morning and headed out.
First stop was to Crackle Barrel. Great restaurant, it has been a long time since we have visited this restaurant and the gift shop was to die for!

Unfortunately, I contained myself since the boys were eager to get on the road and head out. Although Grandpa and Me Maw spoiled Bridger a little bit and got him a light up ball and helicopter.
*side note (I rented for our vacation and for grandma mackey's 100th birthday celebration a Canon 5D Mark iii and a 35mm 1.4 lens. I am totally obsessed and looks as though I may become a Canon girl after this experience!!!) Such an amazing camera and I have shot totally in Manual since the time I opened the box!!! SOOO Awesome.  The first three pics however are used with the Iphone not the Canon Mark iii

Everyday since being here it we have had some great thunderstorms and today was no exception. The humidity is awful and the rain pours hard, with amazing lighting and thunder.

On our way to visit Great Grandma Jane and Great Aunt Dorsey we stopped along the way at a truck stop and ran into some storm chasers; only in the Midwest!

After a quick 3 1/2 hour drive we made it!!!!

Bridger was so excited to run up to grandma's apartment and help her scratch off some scratch tickets.
Quite a little tradition they have going on.
Today they were on the hunt for the number 7.
Sure enough they ended up with a few free tickets and a few dollars won!

Shortly thereafter Great Aunt Dorsey arrived.
It didn't take long for big man to warm up and he was off getting tickled and wrestled with by Aunt Dorsey.
The energy was high, the noise was loud and they were having a ball.

Although it was a short trip it was great to see the two of them and catch up and make memories for our little man.

On our way back home Bridger slept till we got almost to Council Bluffs. Then it was a quick loud cry and we knew that we had to pull off of the interstate so that he could pee. And pee is exactly what he did and poop!!!! Who knew he had to go so bad.

We made it home by 7pm and we are now patiently waiting for Uncle D.D. to stop over with the barbecue for beers and dinner out back!

Our days seem to be flying by but that is how vacation usually is! We are enjoying every minute and the long nights that summer in the Midwest is all about! I finally saw my fireflies the other night and it reminded me how exciting it was to catch these little bugs when I was younger.
