Burnin’ The Midnight Oil (May 30)

We left on May 30th early in the morning and headed out of town.
It was off to our yearly road trip back to Omaha.
18 hours, no big deal.
Two kids, ha! We got this.
and one fantastic podcast that took us all the way to Omaha.
What podcast you ask, Serial!
If you haven’t downloaded it, go now!
Ben and I would stop after each episode discuss our thoughts and predictions. And then listen on. It was the quickest 18 hours in the car!
I wouldn’t spoil it but if you have a lot of time to kill or need something to hook you this podcast is it!

Our road trip wasn’t to eventful.
We made a few stops to mainly let Bridge out to play a little bit.
So you can imagine we stopped at McDonalds.
Then we stopped again at the Sierra Trading Post Headquarters in Cheyenne for a much needed leg stretch and of course a little shopping!
Finally it was a quick stop in Sidney for gas and a Runza and by the time midnight struck we were almost into Omaha.
We made it.

The majority of the time in Omaha was dedicated to helping Gaga out with her garage sale and looking at different types of homes for her.
No house was picked but in the end I think she can finally say and pinpoint exactly what she wants. It certainly was an interesting time house shopping for someone else. If there is one thing I learned is that Ben and I do things a little differently than probably most people when it comes to real estate.

Besides all of that we stayed busy each day doing different activities that included the famous Henry Doorly Zoo, Children’s Museum where we met up with Ryan on of Ben’s long time buddies and their little girl, went to the San Lucia Festival down by the river where Bridge and Kal did a bunch of carnival rides and games and we even met up with Uncle Brian.

The topper to our trip was of course the College World Series. Dad gave us tickets and it was exciting to watch Bridger take in the huge baseball field. Prior to the game we did opening ceremony and Bridge had a chance to do all the fun sports activities they had set up outside the field. We then watched the players walk on to the field accompanied by fireworks.

As soon as those fireworks went off that was our cue to leave. Bridge still is not a huge fan of loud noises and that was the topper to the end of the evening.

We spent many evenings over at MeMa and Papa’s and did some wonderful grilling out! It was great to spend so much time with my family and I miss those summer nights out on the patio!
