Soccer Season

Yesterday was the last game of the season.

We are so proud of Bridger.
He made it to every practice and every game, he certainly had dedication.
The growth from the beginning to the end was tremendous.
He was relentless, played hard and even had a great time viewing the crowd!

At three years old he was tuff! He learned to control the ball, pass and be a team player.
We had a great coach and made some great friends.

I'm a little sad that the season was over, practices were on thursdays and afterward the kiddos would play at the park and Bridger was such a good friend to his teammates. By the end they all loved to come to practice and see each other!

So many memorable moments this season!
Like how the weather every Saturday was either cold, windy rainy or maybe one or two games sunny!
Or how there was a lot of domino effects with the kiddos; one falls down and three or four more fall down with them.

Maybe when daddy was in charge of potty breaks every game right in the middle of the quarter!
Of course there were the times when he made goals and he had a cute little smirk on his face when everyone cheered him on.

Last but not least the smiling faces of all the kids when they ran through the tunnel!

Daddy and I are so proud of you, Bridger, you worked hard all season and did a fantastic job!

Love you little guy.

Nursery project

I didn't post a lot of pictures of our little guy Colter Ray's nursery mainly in part because there are still some empty walls but as things are finally coming together (even if he is two months) I wanted to show off how cute it has come together.

I have a feeling this little guy will spend a bit more time in his room then our oldest has :) Can't say we know everything about parenting but we sure are learning and do things a little bit different with baby number two.

Alot of things we reused from Bridge's old nursery. However on Friday I did a DIY project inspired from Pinterest. They are the bookshelves made from molding and L shaped brackets. Total cost $29!
I love how it turned out.
Colter Ray's Room!

2 months, how is that possible?

Our little guy turned two months on Tuesday.
How is that possible.
So what is Colter Ray up to these days:

  • SMILING!!!!!!! We are getting so many real smiles out of him. I can't quite pinpoint the certain noises or things that we do to make him smile but typically the morning and right after we pick Bridger up from school is when we get the most smiles.

  • Loves bath time- he is so calm and is now kicking and putting his arms down to feel the water. Not long after bath then he falls fast asleep.
  • Sleeping- he is a great sleeper. This time around I have turned off the over bearing need to feed him every 2-3 hours and I let him indicate when he is hungry. He is sleeping from 9-2/3am and then we pull him into bed to nurse and he will generally sleep till 7 or 8 am.

  • Colicky from7-9. If we don't give a bath he will be very fussy during this time at night. So I strap him into the Ergo and start doing my nightly walks around the kitchen while daddy puts Bridger to sleep.
  • Coo's - at the point that he loves to coo and blow bubbles in the football hold.

  • Lifting his head very steady and strong.
  • Billy Goat- Bridger was the terridactul and Colter is a little goat with all of his grunting.
  • No "Meme" aka pacifier, never has liked them.
  • Hates car rides- still does not like being in his car seat
  • Great eater- I am so happy for this. My milk supply is amazing! I have saved 78oz and am trying to build the stash. He eats so good.

  • Loves to sit in his bouncer and look around while I get a shower or bath in. (that's how I am doing this post right now) I better hurry before my time runs out......
Colter Ray is doing amazing and we head to the doc at the end of the month for his 2 month appointment. Keep doing great  big boy! We love you so much.

Mother's Day with two babies!

This mother's day was extra special since Colter Ray came into the world.
Being a mother to two boys is pretty amazing. These boys melt my heart in so many ways.
Although it is difficult and some days are really hard, I wouldn't change it. I knew I had the power to love another child but I didn't realize just how much my heart could hold.
It came natural, as if he was here the entire time our family has been together.
We spent the morning baking a strawberry cake, after our Friday together was making homemade strawberry jam.

It's amazing when you do your own canning/jam how much sugar they put into stuff, no wonder its not healthy!
Anyways it turned out great for my first try at it. Bridger helped and Colter was in the baby carrier the whole time.

In the afternoon we headed to gma and gpas for lunch. Bridger devoured grandpa's burgers and I was quickly reminded how we are on Colter Ray's time. Therefore I excused myself to nurse him the entire time they had lunch. O well! It was waiting for me when Grandpa took him after he finish and it was delicious.

Being a mother to these two amazing little boys is the greatest gift I have ever received. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't thank God for allowing me to be a mother. I have learned how to be patient, slow down and try and take in the world around me (easier said then done) through the little eyes of my boy! The smiles and laughter that both boys exude melts my heart every day.

I'm grateful to my husband for going through this journey with me and raising these two little guys. He leads by example and for that I am so happy they get to have such a wonderful dad to look up to. My boys spoiled me with love and not just on mother's day but everyday! Love you all.

Can he do it?

On Monday I got a phone call from the rec center saying that they had to cancel the preschool 1 class since only Bridge signed up. I was a little disappointed since we had this planned for two months and I switch his day care to three days a week in May to acommadte lessons and time with mommy. I asked the director if it was possible if we could join the next level up.

He called me back Tuesday morning and said, "we can certainly see how he does and if he can't then we will sign you up next month for the class." I called Ben and told him. We got to lessons and sure enough it was director of the rec that was actually his teacher and would be giving the lessons. He was very friendly right way and welcomed bridge right away. The whole time daddy and I texted back and forth about the different drills that the director was putting him through to seeif he could do what the other two kids were doing. At first it was a nail biter. bridge didn't want to go under water right away. Within five minutes of watching the other kiddos in his class he was starting to get back in His element. I was so relieved. There were definitly things that he excelled at and things that he will work on but by the end of the lesson the director spoke with me and said, "within the first lesson he has already showed tremendous growth so there is no doubt that he will catch up within the next few lessons. So Imasked him, "then is it a go?" And he said YES! Talk about pressure. Daddy was on the edge of his seat waiting to hear, he was very excited when we told him that Bridge would be able to join pre2.

What a fun afternoon we had! After lessons it was a little basketball before we loaded up in the car. By the time we got home Bridge climbed into the rocker and I went to put colt down and came back and bridge was passed out asleep.

Daddy came home and suggested we go check out Vogel Farms. It was a fun time. We got the grand tour by the cute little old lady. We picked up a few tomato and pepper starts and walked through the differnt shops. All the while hearing about the farm. I could go on and on but by the time we left we left with 8 plants, cheese curds, and a gallon of raw milk. What you say, raw milk, well she talked so highly of it and while we were getting the tour two ladies came in to the shop to pick up their order and hauled off with the farm fresh eggs and raw milk. We would be giving any to bridge but daddy and I sure want to try it. I will let you know how it is later. If you have a chance to check it out and don't forget to get a grand tour! Very informational and such a nice lady, o and to have a ton of Huckleberry items!!! All local!
O how I wish he would take a pacifier! This was a good try but again no luck, he just spits them right out.

Sicker than a dog

Yesterday we, meaning daddy and I both got violently sick.
It all started in the morning Ben said he wasn't feeling good before he headed to work in the morning. I figured he was run down from all the yard work, but by 10:30am I got a phone call from him saying he was headed home because he had been violently puking and diarehea at work. Mind you this man hardly ever take a day, still hasn't taken an official paternity leave! So I knew he was sick.

He got home and went straight to bed. Mean while Colt and I headed to Home Depot to finish off the pots for our back patio full of flowers. We got home, colt slept while I planted. at this point I felt fine. By the time I picked Bridger up from daycare and was headed home I could feel that rumbling in my stomach. I walked into the house handed the baby over to daddy and let's just say I got extremely sick. Puking so hard it was coming out my. Mouth and nose, peeing pants because I was throwing up so hard. The bathroom was a mess. This happened throughout the course of the evening. It came in waves and just when I thought it was over I would get that feeling and it would start again.

How we survived with two parents so sick is beyond me. Prayer to the good lord to help us make it through the night. And wouldn't you know both boys slept fantastic. Both ben and I woke up and we were back to ourself. Crazy!!!! I don't know if we caught something or if it was food poising but boy do I hope we never ever get sick at the same time again. Way to difficult!

My view last night, kept me fighting to get better.

the weekend

We had a jam packed weekend.
What turned into busy work all throughout the house.
There was small talk about redoing the bark around the landscape, and that turned to maybe we should just rock it so we don't have to deal with bark again. The next thing you know Benjamin is on the phone with international rock getting all the details squared away and has picked up a trailer to haul the rock back home Saturday morning, all before Bridger's soccer game.

Off to soccer we went.
Bridger did a fantastic job, scored 2 goals and was completely exhausted.
His team is kind of like the odd squad. We started with four players, then one was added, now that same one quit so we are down to four again. However, one little boy only likes to do soccer at practice, he didn't want to play at all during last weeks game. Then there is a cute little petite girl, who mind you is the coaches daughter, and she doesn't enjoy all the kids chasing after the ball, so when it comes her way she gets freaked out and runs off the field. So now we are down to Bridger and another little girl who both mind you love soccer. This little girl in particular is feisty, and Bridger is picking up on a little bit of that feistiness and there was a little more pushing this game then any in the past. We found out later at home that Bridger knew another player from the other team so he was a slight bit distracted, running around in circles and goofing off. We sure have enjoyed soccer season, we will probably keep Bridger in U4 for the next two season so he plays his age of kids. He is definitely the youngest and I want to keep that little innocence for as long as possibly.

Whose Who?

 Bridger Edward

Next up, was back to the truck to pick up more rock. Gma and Gpa and Brian picked up tacos and met us back at the house. They help daddy continue to lay rock down. I however was exhausted. An exhausted mama with a tired 6 week old makes for a long afternoon.

Later in the evening after much pleading for daddy to take a break from the landscape, daddy and Bridger finally started laying out the garden and planting the seeds. We only got about half way done before it was dark, way past bed times and we still had not ate dinner. Off for a quick burger and back home to get ready for bed.

Up bright and early today for daddy to keep working on the rock. Mommy and the boys hung in the house before Bridger was antsy and wanted to go help. I laid Colter down and took a shower and got ready for a church outing with Gma, Becky, Libby, Ann Marie and Barbara. As my brother-in-law put it, "wow Alanna, is this a formal you are going to!" Ha! Real funny Bill. For once I actually got a shower, did my hair and put on dress after 6 weeks of having a new baby. It felt good, but I was quickly reminded how a baby changes your body! Cinco de Mayo Church function was very nice and it was wonderful to catch up with all the ladies. Lots of laughter and stories told. Of course my breasts leaked and just when I thought I didn't need pads in my bras, I was quickly reminded how funny life is when you least expect it. Thankfully I was wearing all black and they had us wear name tags so I just covered up the wet spot and went into the restroom and made some make shift nursing pads for my bras in the church bathroom. Lovely!

(yes Colter is saying, "C'mon Mom I am just trying to catch a little sleep!"

Back home we went to finish the garden, keep on laying more rock and catch up naps for the little guy. It was a fun, FILLED, FAST weekend.
