Team Work

That's what we have been doing all weekend. Today was by far the best day since we have begun naps in Bridger's crib and nights in the pack&play in our room. We have all slept better and today you can hear the bird's sing!

We had quite a Saturday with Bridger boy finding the stairs while daddy and I were trying to lower his crib so he couldn't climb out of it. The next thing you know blump, blump, blump down a few stairs Bridger went. Thank goodness we have a tough little boy because after a few snuggles and kisses he was back at it trying to climb the stairs. Looks like we are going to have to get a baby gate. SOON

Ben leaves again this week :( it's so tough being a single parent and I have to admit that I have a new found respect for people who do it all day everyday. I wouldn't be able to type this right now if I didn't have a little alone time in the bath tub. This week is his last long trip for a while... as Nemo says, "just keep swimming, just keep swimming." We can do this!

Bridger's birthday is in a few weeks and at lunch yesterday one of the gals ask me how old he was and of course the next thing I knew I was tearing up thinking about how he is going to turn 1 soon. I can't quite bring myself to blog about that just yet. I am enjoying every minute with my baby before he turns one.

struggles and laughter

The title of this blog sums up our week here. Since we got home on Sunday I pushed forward as a working mother and headed to work Monday as if I thought Bridger would naturally adjust back into daycare after being away for 5 days. No time to loose.....

Well I was COMPLETELY wrong. I picked Bridger up at the normal time hoping to find a happy, smiling little boy and instead I had a overly tired, sick baby boy. Since I had gone to Urgent Care back in Omaha I already had a script to treat what the doctor thought could be an ear infection. So I went ahead and filled it since the doctor's office was closed. Daddy was not home yet. So off to bed EARLY we went.

By Tuesday morning he seemed okay and so we continued to push on. Another bad day at daycare. No naps, pulling at his ear, resisting change and was not very happy. Since I didn't have any other choice and I knew Ben would be home that night I chalked it up as him being sick and that I should've stayed home. Ben got home late and decided he would keep Bridger on Wednesday just to get him over the hump.

Babies must know when change happens because Ben nor I got ANY sleep Tuesday night. On Wednesday morning I knew I had a HUGE parent meeting night that I HAD to present at so I told Ben I would be home late around 8'ish. But I wanted to see Bridger, so I woke him up since he fell asleep in the car ride home from Grandma and Grandpa's, we played a little, rocked a little and fell asleep. He did a little bit better Wednesday night so I figured we were on the mend.

Thursday came and I was already not my happy go lucky self since our parent turn out was low, and to top it off Daycare called at 8:20 to tell me that they ran out of formula. So I left and dropped some off. When I got there my poor guy was at the eating table and was crying and not wanting to eat ANYTHING. I tried rocking him and putting him to sleep, but every time I would lay him down he would scream. I didn't have any choice at this point since I had to go back to work. Looking back I should've taken him home. I feel awful and the whole day I just couldn't get over the feeling of leaving my baby boy who was struggling.

I decided at 5:00am this morning that I need to stay home with him in case he wasn't getting any better and so I made a doctor's appointment so we could get answers by the weekend. When I walked into the doctors office my own doctor knew something just wasn't right with us. After looking in Bridger's ears and checking him out he told me that his ears looked fine and no ear infection. He asked how I was doing and that's when everything just hit me like a ton of bricks. Between the lack of sleep, the guilt I felt for leaving Bridger yesterday and a baby who is clearly off his schedule I lost it.

I am so grateful today for our doctor who reassured me that every baby goes through transitions and that it's okay. After talking through everything we now have a plan. Bridger is so close to walking, he has more teeth coming in and today while I was home he only wanted one nap (12-2:30). So I will continue to watch him over the weekend and hopefully next week at daycare we will have a better week.

On a lighter note I LOVE having my husband home. He truly has a way of making every stressful situation manageable. If it wasn't for him I wouldn't laugh so hard, smile so much and know that everything is going to be okay. He may LOVE Gold Rush in the evenings and has ALOT of episodes to catch up on, but we love having him home every night and miss him too much while he is on the road.

P.S. Bridger weighs 23lbs, 13 oz and is 30 inches long. My boy is growing like a weed.

11 months old

Our boy turned 11 months old when we were back in Omaha this weekend.

Things to note at 11months:
  • his top two teeth cut on Monday, January 28th.
  • He is SOO close to standing unassisted and will walk with an extra pair of hands to help

  • he LOVES ice cream, water in a straw, crackers and some times limes and lemons

  • he doesn't like to ride in the car for very long
  • the way to keep him calm and to fall asleep is to sing out loud The ABC's

  • he is babbling like crazy
  • he can clap, kiss and wave goodbye

  • he knows mama and dadada and sometime he will even babble Baby Bridger and money money:) which I think he is saying more more but it sure sounds like it.

  • He can stop a stranger at any given moment with his piercing blue eyes and wonderful big smile
  • He is very easy going, unless he is tired and hungry
  • he loves things that are sticky (aka band aids, stickers)
  • He likes the games peek - a-boo, this little piggy, and loves to crawl around and hid with others

  • He is 23lbs (had him weighed at the Urgent Care in Omaha on Friday (thought he had an ear infection, turns out he was just pulling at them :) (better safe then sorry)

  • He is sleeping with mommy in the her bed while daddy is away on business :)

  • He is WONDERFUL!
We love you big boy!
Mommy and Daddy

Until next time....

No goodbyes here. It's until next time. Goodbyes are just too hard.

What a great weekend Bridger and I had back home in Omaha Nebraska. Of course the time went to fast, there never seems to be enough hours in the days to do everything you want but in the end we spent time with family and there was lots of loving on Bridger boy.

We just got back home a few hours ago and and within two hours of being home Bridger was ready for bed. He did wonderful again on the plane rides.

One poopy diaper and a quick plane change, which led to a quick leg stretch on the second plane, but he hoped right back into his car seat and took his bottle and off to sleep he went.

Kaela had a fabulous baby shower full of games, food and fun. In the morning her and I went and did her maternity shoot! It was COLD and there was still lots of snow but we managed to make them look beautiful.

Between all the wonderful meals we enjoyed, the late night conversations had and the memories that were made Bridger and I were sad to go.

We will be back soon... until next time!

First Airplane Ride and Mommy's Birthday

Yesterday Bridger and I left to fly to Omaha for my 27th birthday.
This was Bridger's first airplane ride and he did AMAZINGLY WELL!

He rocked it! I was one proud mommy the whole trip. There were lots of conversations with new people, the flight attendant ladies loved on him big time, he even got to meet the captain of the plane.

We were so lucky that both of our flights weren't booked so I was able to bring the car seat on the airplane and not more then 15 minutes in his car seat and a bottle later and Bridger was sound asleep.
We rode on a brand new airplane on the last leg of our trip.

It was SOOO nice. It had new seats, LED lighting, HEAT/AIR controls, more room, WIFI (amazing!!!!) The plane held 175 passangers and there were only 60 people on borad. We had the whole back half of the plane to ourself.

Today is my birthday and I have had quite a nice day.
I got my haircut on Tuesday night before I left! LOVE IT
Lots of relaxing, a little shopping with my sister and mother and some yummy lunch.

I miss my husband dearly and wish he could be here but between skype, cellphones and text message we are able to keep in constant contact and share all of these memories.

Here's to a great 27th year. Life is good!

Nat Nat's Birthday

Happy Birthday to the sweetess little girl I know!

Nat Nat turned 3 years old on Monday. I am a little behind on blogging since Ben is away on business. But we were lucky to be able to spend Sunday (after their weekend trip to McCall (so jealous):) evening enjoying pizza, cake and opening presents. Even Bridger got in on it and helped Natalie open her gifts.
We enjoyed a singing show put on by Ms. Audrey and Natalie.

Bridger played and played and played and played!
 Just helping out!
 New outfit.
I think Bridger found a new toy....thank Natalie for sharing.
 Aunt Beck loving on Bridger.
Reading the directions and excited to play.
Here's to a wonderful third year sweet girl! We love you.
On my way home from the party the moon was full and shining brightly.

first of so many

We are officially pulling up on EVERYTHING!

I am so far behind on my blogging, but now that Ben is home for some time I can quickly go off and try and get some alone time and get caught up.
My boys

As we speak the boys are rolling around on the ground and playing "boy" stuff.

Trouble right there
On Friday last week after school Bridger and I headed over to Old Navy for their sale and boy did we score, but more on that later, anyways as we were checking out the kind lady at the register asked if Bridger could have a balloon to take home? I told her that he had never had one before and that this would be his first. Love, interesting, amused, intrigued, not so sure, those were all thing that I think that maybe he was thing when she handed one to him. The picture does all the talking.
My first balloon
This past week was spent being a single parent (ben was traveling) and how I have great respect for parents who do it by themselves. Bridger stayed on schedule pretty much all week, which was a blessing.
getting into all the drawers

don't wake a sleeping baby, even if he is in his "too"small car seat

He is more "off" schedule today after daddy being back, but we would take daddy home over being alittle more difficult (aka. little to no naps today and still going strong, just ask the daycare girls)!
"I didnt' do it mommy"

new hairdo!

We spent much of our weekend hanging out together and spending time with friends, doing a little work, and playing so much!

So big!
Bath time is always a favorite.
