I haven't blogged for two weeks. Ugh.
So much to catch up on but lets start with the sickness that makes a mommy and daddy feel like awful parents. Everything was normal two weeks ago and the Friday before last we went to Aunt Becky and Uncle Bill's for a fish fry. The kids played outside, our boy slept from the time we pulled out of the driveway till 2am when he woke with a fever. I quickly undressed him and gave him Tylenol. We fell back asleep. Bridger didn't wake till 9am. This is NOT normal. But we sure enjoyed it.
Much to my surprise when he awoke he had red bumps around his feet, hands and a little around his mouth. We chalked it up as grass allergies. We continued about our weekend and went to the nursery, home depot, Lowe's and finally returned home. As I put him down to nap I noticed his body was accumulating more bumps which were looking like blisters. He was sore and not himself. I told Ben I was going to head to the Doctors after he woke. After seeing a quick care doctor whom I was horrified with I came home and talked with Ben. We decided if it didn't get better we would go get a second a opinion on Sunday. That is what we did. The doctor was very nice and accommodating and listen to me and took time to do a through check, not the case with the first doctor (that's a story all on its own that I wish to never have to deal with again.) She informed us that it was Hand, Foot and Mouth. Unfortunately nothing we could do. She told us to hang tough and it would run its course in 7-10 days. After a week off of school and mommy and daddy taking rotating days I am happy to report that he is doing much better. Still has some wounds but overall he is back to his fun little 2 year old self.
I don't have pictures till Monday because I was so disturb with how bad it was. This picture was taken on Monday. This is what his mouth, hands, legs and feet looked like. Horrible.
Over the course of this week we had a chance to spend some good quality time with our boy doing home activities. Daddy worked out in the yard with Bridge getting the raised bed ready for the garden this year. (Cross our fingers we will have a little bit of a green thumb). I painted with Bridger, there was lots of baths and games throughout the week and we even managed to make a yummy meatloaf.
These pictures were taken Wednesday and Thursday.
Today daddy took Bridge to see Mike and Lauren run the Lake Lowell Marathon. Surprisingly they were able to find them and cheer them on. Then it was on to see Grandpa and Uncle Bri doing some fishing. Of course they limited out!
The weather has been absolutely gorgeous this last week and little windy this weekend but we had a chance to get in a lot of walks.
This last week has been a whirlwind and I am just thankful that we are moving forward. Great-Grandma Mackey had a stroke last Saturday as well so we are all praying for a strong recovery.
We are celebrating Grandma Rosie's retirement and birthday this week and are so proud of her. I know Bridger is looking forward to having lots of Grandma time. Uncle Bri is in town this week and all the brothers are taking Grandma and Grandpa out to celebrate, unfortunately the wives are staying back with the sick kiddos tonight.
Here are some pictures to recap the last few weeks. Enjoy!
So glad your little guy is feeling better! Hand Foot and Mouth is pretty awful because they are just unhappy and there is nothing you can do about it. Also, sorry to hear about the stroke. She will be in my thoughts.\
